Share transaction fee cut by 30pc

Dhaka, Oct 4 — The Central Depository of Bangladesh Limited (CDBL) has reduced fees on share transactions by 30 percent.

The decision to cut down fees on transaction from Tk 0.25 per Tk 1,000 (or Tk 25 per lakh) to Tk 0.175 per Tk 1,000 (or Tk 17.5 per lakh) was taken at a meeting of the CDBL Board on Tuesday.

Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) president Fakhar Uddin Ali Ahmed, also a CDBL director, told bdnews24.com that the new charges will also apply for corporate actions like rights shares and bonus issues.

Chief financial officer of CDBL Shuvra Kanti Choudhury said the change would be effective from Wednesday.

The brokerage houses had been demanding reduction in transaction charges ever since the capital market went on a downward trend.
